AGCP Mission Statement:
To teach members through outreach and programs to help golfers lower their scores and enjoy golf more by fitting them better. The Association of Golf Clubfitting Professionals is a professional peer group organization for club fitters and club builders whose purpose is two-fold:
- To further the education of professional golf club fitters and club makers in the science and art of custom club fitting and custom club making, and
- To promote the benefits of custom golf club fitting and custom golf clubs to the general public.
Teaching fitting technologies today that make you a better golfer tomorrow! We know that the best way to build a successful clubfitting business is to create a lot of customers who improve their golf scores with custom fitted golf clubs we produce. There is no better advertising than word of mouth. Golfers like to talk and word will spread fast for someone who produces better golfers through their clubfitting efforts. Our goal is to spread the information to our members about fitting techniques that work to produce better quality golf shots. We test new technologies and are constantly experimenting with new techniques to find better ways to improve golf clubs through custom fitting and custom building. We maintain communications with our members 24 hours a day 7 days a week 365 days a year through our private email forum. Our members around the world are offering 50, 75 and sometimes 100 messages per day discussing clubfitting and club building. Questions from the newest member are answered by AGCP Masters on a daily basis and the young and inexperienced learn from the older veterans all of the best techniques to help their golfers improve. You can tell new from old by their qualification certification levels. Look up a clubfitter and look at his qualification certification level, then read the requirements for that qualification level and you will know the level of experience and knowledge for that clubfitter. So click on Find a Clubfitter and call your nearest AGCP member and get fit today. It started as a working vacation for about a dozen PCS member families who decided to meet in Branson MO at Hoot Gibson’s Golf Shop and exchange knowledge about clubfitting and clubmaking. All were members of an email list organized by Roy Nix. Roy started an email list with some of the like minded PCS members to discuss clubfitting and clublmaking only without sponsors and distractions from social comments. Just plain nuts and bolts about clubfitting and clubmaking where nothing was too simple to ask. The first rule of Roy’s forum was “There are no dumb questions” and every member had to treat every other member with respect and not be critical of any of the questions asked. Serious answers were expected and they had to be delivered in a respectful way. Some early members were removed when their answers, over a period of time, were deemed to be too derogatory to those asking questions. Roy’s list was about helping, sharing and learning for all levels. It remains the same today. Disagreements are technical, not personal. Also sponsors are not allowed so members can discuss products without fear of a sponsor getting their feeling hurt by less than cheer leading about a product. The purpose then and today is to have honest technical conversations where all members are respected and all members can learn. The great thing about the email list is the passive learning it provides. Beginners can join and in many cases they will learn more by reading and following threads than by asking questions. The major event each year is The AGCP RT Convention in October. Where the AGCP Masters of Golf Club Technology and other experts gather and offer classes on clubfitting and clubmaking. Many of them are hands on. During convention week the social aspect of being able to meet and become friends with the best in the business and sit until the wee hours of the night discussing clubfitting and clubmaking with them is priceless. There is a Demo Day on Wednesday, a day of Sponsor exhibits on Thursday followed by the member/sponsor dinner that evening. Then the last two days of classes before the annual trip to Hunter’s Pub for steak and fried lobster tail followed by peanut butter pie for desert. Since its inception in 2006, the AGCP has grown almost every year and continues to do so today. Focusing on the advancement and education of professional golf club fitting and custom golf club building while promoting the certification of golf fitting professionals, the AGCP strives to set the bar for cutting edge technology for club fitters and club builders. The AGCP has become the number one source for education and is the leading golf clubmakers association in helping to educate all professional club fitters and creating successful business models for its members. Found and directed by Roy Nix, a golf professional for over forty years, one of the ten active AGCP Masters of Golf Club Technology, and named in 2011 by Golf Digest as one of America’s Bestt 100 Clubfitters. The AGCP holds the only worldwide convention and education conference for professional club fitters and professional club makers each year. The Annual Roundtable Convention and Educational Seminar is a week long event that has become a focal point for the education on the road to excellence for certified golf club fitters, club builders, and businessmen around the world. Partnering with the top professionals in the industry of golf club fitting and teaching, the AGCP Masters of Golf Club Technology, other highly qualified and certified AGCP instructors, and golf professionals, in addition to the engineers, scientists and professional staff members of our sponsors who all offer their skills and knowledge in seminars and classes each year.
