I'm starting to warm up to this head. At first I found my 16.5 degree head, (handpicked to 17 degrees), a bit difficult to hit off the ground. This isn't surprising, as I haven't been able to hit anything under about 20 degrees off the deck for years. Quirk of my swing on longer clubs, plus I'm not a fast swinger. In retrospect, I think my initial problems came from wet rounh with the ball sitting down. I find smaller hybrid heads deal with that better. However, I'm now using this thing off the fairway with fair regularity, and noticeably more distance than my 7 wood. Moreover, it is quite an effective tee club for me. I like the head size as a tee club - large enough to give confidence.  Yet it has a low profile for off the deck utility. I also love the dound and feel when I really flush it. I'm still thinking of pairing it with a 949MC 7 Wood to give me a long club from thick rough, but I definitely plan to keep the 919 now. I thik it makes a good  "long fairway wood" option for a lot of medium to high handicappers with medium to slower swing speeds. It also makes a great souped up 5 wood for the really strong player, especially someone hitting some kind of "tour" 3. Just make sure to shaft int correctly, becasue this club will hit a bit high with too flexible a shaft tip.

Anyone else have any comments?

I don't like the head for me. I think that really big flatish sole makes it tough anywhere but on a tee.

The big flat sole is certainly the biggest problem. However, I'm now finding that's not so much of an issue from the fairway, or sitting well up in rough. I can't dig out of the rough with it, though. I need a smaller heaqd for that.

I think we all get a little bit distracted from the main topicstarter's theme
