We are often asked how to become a certified clubfitter, a certified club builder or a Master Clubfitter. Or, if we have a clubfitter school. Read on and hopefully you will find the answers you need.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Note: We do not exempt anyone from our certification test. If you are certified with another organization you still have to take our test and meet our requirements. There are no exceptions.\u00a0<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AGCP Certification is available only to Gold Level AGCP members<\/strong>\u00a0in good standing after their first year of membership. Level 1 Certification as a Clubfitter is a pre requisite to the Certification test. Any member may take the Level 1 Certification Exam at any time once they become a member. Successfully completing the Level 1 Exam will earn a Certificate of Achievement you can frame and hang in your shop. This will be mailed to you after your exam has been graded. You can order your test in the Store and download your exam. Note: If you have a problem contact me at roy@agcpgolf.com.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Members with various levels of experience and ability will have different certifications available to them. Read the different levels of skills and experience below to see where you fit. You can apply for any level but you will award the level that best fits where our Masters who grade the test think you fit based on the information below.<\/p>\n

I get emails often asking about these requirements. So let me explain a bit more.\u00a0<\/p>\n

The AGCP is committed to education and continuing education and without that commitment the AGCP test is meaningless. We are also committed to standing behind our certifications to golfers who seek out our members and our commitment to them that out members are truly qualified to help them. Also, part of the Certification is that you are connected to all AGCP members world wide on a daily basis. By being connected 24\/7\/365 to all members you have the combined knowledge of the world wide membership to draw on for support. Lower level, less experienced members have the benefit of contacting AGCP Masters of Golf Club Technology and all other levels of certification to help you with any challenge you face. If you are asked to do something beyond your experience you can seek help from the best clubfitters and club builders in the world.<\/p>\n

The certification requirements are one year plus renewal for year 2. Your commitment to continue to learn more on a continuing basis is what we are looking for. Otherwise anyone could join and take the test then abandon the AGCP and not participate as a member. Certification is dependent on being a member as well as taking a test.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AGCP members are tested and Qualified for listing on the AGCP web site using the following Levels of Qualifications.<\/a>\u00a0If you are a golfer looking for a member on the locator pages check his Qualification Level against the requirement to determine his experience, qualifications and the equipment he has in his shops. When you find your local AGCP member, look at his Qualification Level to see what his experience level is and what equipment he has in his shop.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

The requirements as listed below are a firm guide to what we need to have from any member seeking certification status. If the answers on a members test indicate they should be higher or lower we will certify only to the level we believe our member is capable of working to. When \u201ca hitting net\u201d is mentioned below if a member does not have an indoor shop and works at a driving range the driving range will be the same as a hitting net.<\/em><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 1<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP \u2013 Level 1 must take a proficiency test and prove they have at least the minimum ability to do business as a Professional and a minimal amount of equipment to do business and help golfers. Level 1 members may or may not have attended any schools, and may only have an apprenticeship for their training, but have been tested for a minimum of knowledge and experience to help you in some ways. It is advised that you call Level 1 members and satisfy yourself that they are capable of doing what you need.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 2<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP and has attended at least 1 recognized school or certification course at Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell, or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 3<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP and has attended at least 2 recognized schools or certification courses, at Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell, or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 4<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP and has attended at least 3 recognized schools or certification courses, at Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell, or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 5<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP and has achieved Certification thru PCS GCA, or ICG testing, or has been building and\/or fitting clubs for 3 or more years with appropriate schools or certification courses, at Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell, ICG or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers. Member has fitting ability but limited equipment. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

AGCP Level 6<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013 Member of AGCP and has achieved Advanced Certification thru PCS GCA or ICG testing, and\/or Golfworks, Golfsmith, Mitchell or attended a school, Certification class, or seminars by the AGCP or one of the equipment or component manufacturers, and\/or has been building and\/or fitting clubs for 5 or more years with appropriate schools or certification courses listed above. Member has fitting ability but limited equipment. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Trackman, Flightscope, Golf Achiever, Vector, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts and can build to swing weight or MOI. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Member has a complete shop with hitting net, launch monitor, gauges for measuring shafts & heads and the ability to bend clubs to fit. Equipment must include Launch monitor or swing analysis equipment similar to Trackman, Flightscope, Golf Achiever, Vector, or other recognized equipment for swing testing. Member has bending equipment for loft and lie on irons, appropriate shaft pulling equipment, equipment to spine shafts and measure frequency of shafts and can build to swing weight or MOI. Written and\/or Verbal testing required. Member also has video capability and\/or teaching capabilities.\u00a0Member has a retail location in their community. Written and\/or Verbal testing required.\u00a0Member also has teaching capabilities as a former or current PGA Professional or certification through one of the recognized\u00a0Golf Teaching Schools.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

Teaching <\/b>\u2013 Send copy of Teaching Certificate issued upon successful completion of your teaching school, copy of PGA Class A card or notarized letters from Head Professionals you have worked under attesting to your teaching ability along with photo copy of their Class A card.<\/p>\n

Retail <\/b>\u2013 Submit copy of Business license and\/or tax except certificate and picture of your shop or storefront.<\/p>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t

\n\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t

A Master of Golf Club Technology AGCP member has achieved the following:<\/strong><\/p>\n

    \n
  • Masters must have experience as a Professional Club Technician, Fitter & Builder\n
      \n
    • \u2013 Full-Time (5 Years)<\/li>\n
    • \u2013 Part-Time (10 Years)<\/li>\n
    • At the time of nomination the nominee must have a local business license.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n
    • Masters must achieve AGCP Level 10 at least 12 months prior to nomination<\/li>\n
    • Masters must have attended at least 2 Roundtable Education Conventions<\/li>\n
    • Masters must have made at least one Presentation at a Roundtable or be scheduled for one in the upcoming event.<\/li>\n
    • Masters must be nominated by 3 or more Current AGCP Masters<\/li>\n
    • Masters must have knowledge and training in golf swing mechanics and know now the golf swing and golf club work together.<\/li>\n
    • In addition the Master of Golf Club Technology of the future must have completed a series of special Certification Classes in the different areas of clubfitting and club building to show that he is not only generally qualified but qualified in every area of clubfitting and club building. Such areas as Length Fitting, Trajectory Fitting, Shaft Profile Fitting for both Woods and Irons, Wedge Fitting, Grinding heads for special playing conditions, and many, many areas too numerous to list.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\t\t\t\t\t\t\t\t<\/div>\n\t\t\t\t
