I am retiring from a career as a police officer in 1 year and 6 months. I started as a hobbiest approximately 7 years ago then transitioned to a small business about 2 years ago. I live on the 17th fairway of a golfcourse and my customers have been local residents and golf club members. I have a small shop but it is very well equipped. I have been taught and mentored by our islands only clubmaker and repairman; Larry Leedom. Larry is in his 70's and would like to pass the baton on to me. We are negotiating a buy out of his business where he would stay on as a consultant and assistant to me. He currently has 2 shop locations in Kona. One is in the back half of Big Island Golf Shop owned by PGA pro Lee Kagawa. I have worked part time at that shop (for Lee) for over 5 years. I have read and own most of the books published by Tom Wishon and Ralph Maltby. I am registered and paid my tuition for Mitchell Golf's 5 day Master club builder/fitter course in October. This will be my first real training course. I know I have much to learn and I am hoping joining AGCP would help me grow in my knowledge and skills. I reached out to Roy Nix on Facebook after coming across his site and he highly recommended joining.
